Who We Are...

Community Resource Councils (CRC) are established by the NC Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) for each prison  facility in the NC corrections system.  Each institution is responsible for its individual CRC.  This site is the official website of the CRC of the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW).  The CRC of NCCIW operates as a fully recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

What We Do...

The purpose of Community Resource Councils in NCDPS prisons is to provide assistance in stimulating positive citizen and community involvement and promoting volunteerism at prison facilities throughout the State.  Objectives of the CRC are listed below:

  • To serve as liasion between the correctional facility and the community by opening channels of communication and creating interest to produce positive citizen involvement.
  • To establish wholesome public awareness of, and an appreciation throughout the community for, the programs, missions, goals, objectives, and staff of correctional facilities.
  • To assist in the recruiting and training of individuals to serve as volunteers.
  • To explore and recruit support from institutions, agencies, organizations, and businesses to donate funds, materials, and/or services used to carry out various programs and/or activities adopted by the council and approved by the unit Superintendents/Administrators.
  • To assist staff in the creation and development of programs and activities consistent with State agency goals and Prison's policy.
  • To assist in the process of the reintegration of inmates as they return to the community.

Our Current Project...

We are currently seeking the assistance of churches, organizations, businesses, family and friends to help with an immediate need at the prison. We are raising funds to purchase and install Audio/Visual equipment in the prison chapel at NCCIW. The current AV equipment is severely aged and inadequate to support the prison population and programs, making it very difficult to hear and clearly understand what is being said during an event.  Any type of video presentation for ministry and/or resident programs requires that the equipment be transported from outside the prison and set up at each visit wasting valuable time to fellowship/minister with the residents.  What a blessing it would be to have all equipment available and ready to effectively serve everyone!

We need your personal gift, and then ask if you will consider reaching out to churches, organizations, businesses, family members and friends to help us meet our $12,000 goal by donating as much as possible. If 120 churches, organizations and/or individuals gave $100 each, we will make it!  However, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.

All donations are tax deductible! Please make your gift payable to The CRC of NCCIW, and mail to ...
